77 percent of the population of sub-Saharan Africa are younger than 35 – this equals 770 million people. They are linked up via Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram and they are about to shape the continent's future. The Magazine "The 77 percent" offers to all these people a space for dialogue, ideas, innovation and political participation on various DW platforms. The topics range from politics, society, lifestyle, local events to satire. The young generation of Africa communicates via social networks, at lightning speed and pan-African. The design of "The 77 percent" is made for social media and looks different from classic TV appearances. A particular challenge was the design of the logo, which was adapted in six languages: English, Swahili, Haussa, French, Amharic and Portuguese. The design language is based on traditional African patterns and interprets them in a contemporary look. Fast cuts, strong colors, rhythmic music result in a striking design full of dynamism - as energetic as the young target group of "The 77 percent".
