La voz de tus derechos (The voice of your rights) is a weekly talk show on DW Latin America. The host Yoani Sánchez, a cuban online activist, advocates social activism, featuring activists from across Latin America who discuss social, economic and political injustice they encounter in their countries. Sánchez broadcasts from studio and via Skype, also integrating social media comments and suggestions into the discussion.
As a global advocate for free speech, DW recognized the value of Yoani Sánchez´s work and awarded her The Bobs - Best of Online Activism award 2008 for best blog. In the same year El País awarded Sánchez with „Premio Ortega y Gasset“ and Time Magazine declared her as one of 100 most influential people in the world of the year.
In Cuba, Sanchez´s blog was one of the only sources of dissection against what she calls the „monopoly of information“ from Cuban government. With her new format on DW, she can now support local activism, sustainability and human rights across Latin America. „This format is opening the window, where all doors are closed“, says Yoani Sánchez.
For Yoani Sánchez´s talk show, Luxlotusliner created graphic language and design out of points, circles and plus signs which all stand for unity and solidarity. We filled the circles with graphically abstracted portraits of guests, audience and Yoani Sánchez herself. Those portraits of personal stories and experiences, together with additional points presenting still unknown destinies, are building, together dynamically animated, the map of the world. They imply directly that we are all one, that we all fight for the same cause. Sánchez is one of us, Sanchez is giving us the voice of our rights.
We created typography and further elements, scanning striking and bold black marker underlining and writing, which, in a graphic language, supports and stands for all the personal issues of our protagonists, which should be noticed.
